Overview
Office temp Charlotte Cantilini thinks she's found Mr. Right when she starts dating gorgeous surgeon Dr. Kevin Fields. But there's a problem standing in the way of everlasting bliss: Kevin's overbearing and controlling mother, Viola. Fearing she'll lose her son's affections forever, Viola decides to break up the happy couple by becoming the world's worst mother-in-law.

As a fan of Jane Fonda's acting, I was mildly interested in seeing thismovie, her first in many years. I wish now that I hadn't wasted mytime.
Granted, Jane Fonda is an asset to "Monster-in-Law." She brims withradiance and plays the Viola role with tremendous flair (although thepsychosis of her character sometimes seems forced and exaggerated).

Amazon.com: Watch MonsterThe problem — Jane's character is so over done. Not even close to realistic. Marie in Everybody Loves Raymond was a believable Monster-in Law. Viola in this movie was just crazy and unstable. The male lead was just vanilla and that would have been OK if Jane's character was more realistic.
